India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections have reached ₹2,11,000 crore (₹2.11 lakh crore) in July 2026, marking a 15.4% year-on-year growth. For the government, this represents the fastest growth rate in 14 months, and the second time in the current financial year when monthly GST inflows crossed the ₹2 lakh crore milestone.

This surge has come on the back of tax revenues from imports, along with steady domestic economic activities.

Breakdown of July 2026 Revenue

The total domestic GST revenues (gross) have increased 10.1% year on year to ₹1.45 lakh crore (increasing from ₹1.31 lakh crore in July 2025). Revenues from imported goods have seen a substantially steeper rise, increasing 28.8% to ₹66,511 crore.

Category Components

  • Central GST (CGST): ₹39,835 crore
  • State GST (SGST): ₹47,881 crore
  • Integrated GST (IGST): Over ₹1.23 lakh crore
  • Total Tax Refunds: ₹29,968 crore (up 13.1% year-on-year)
  • Net GST Revenue: ₹1.81 lakh crore (after accounting for refunds, reflecting a 15.8% net increase)

For the first four months of the financial year (April–July 2026), total gross GST collections have reached ₹8.43 lakh crore, a 10.1% increase compared to ₹7.66 lakh crore collected during the same period in the previous fiscal year. Amongst states, Hayana has led with a 25% growth in GST collections, followed by Telangana and Gujarat at 19% followed by Maharashtra at 13%. On the other end of the spectrum, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim saw their GST collections decline by 22% and 59%, respectively.
