Surat (Gujarat) [India], June 8: In the true spirit of Gujarati resilience, where every misfortune is seen as an opportunity, the global pandemic of 2019 became a catalyst to establish Himaya Multispeciality Hospital in Mota Varacha area of Surat.

The year 2019 was a challenging one, with the COVID-19 pandemic causing unprecedented disruption worldwide. The Yuva Sankruti Charitable Trust, led by a group of young trustees, took the initiative to set up the state’s first 54-bed isolation center. Among these dedicated individuals was Nikhil Patel, one of the founding members of Himaya Multispeciality Hospital.

Nikhil Patel said, “A true Gujarati can turn misfortune into opportunity. This philosophy became the driving force behind the establishment of the hospital.”

The concept of Himaya Multispeciality Hospital emerged from conversations between Nikhil Patel and his colleagues, including Dr. Hardik Jasoliya, an Ayurvedic doctor, and Dr. Ashish Sutaria, a physiotherapist. They envisioned a facility that would not only address immediate healthcare needs but also provide comprehensive medical services to the community.

With the support of Jaideep Aghara, an MBBS doctor from Morbi, and the collective unity characteristic of Gujaratis, the team found an ideal location in the Mota Varachha area of Surat. The Shubham Doctor House, which met all necessary building regulations, became the foundation for their hospital. The project, driven by a shared commitment to social service, culminated in the hospital’s opening on July 11, 2021. Official operations for social service began on November 21, 2021.

Himaya Multispeciality Hospital offers a wide range of medical service including General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Gynecology, and ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat). The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as X-ray, Sonography (USG), 24/7 Emergency Radiology, ECG, Pathology Laboratory, and a 24-hour ambulance service, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care at all times.

Recognizing the financial burden that medical expenses can impose on middle and low-income families, Himaya Multispeciality Hospital embraced the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Since November 2022, Himaya Multispeciality Hospital has been a proud provider of PMJAY services. To date, the hospital has treated over 3,300 patients across all departments, with more than 1,100 patients benefiting from the PMJAY scheme. This significant achievement underscores the hospital’s commitment to serving the economically weaker sections of society.

    Vision and Mission

The vision of Himaya Multispeciality Hospital is to stand firm for the low-income residents of Surat, for whom hospital expenses can be a significant burden. The hospital strives to increase patient treatment under the PMJAY scheme and regularly organizes free diagnostic camps in various parts of Surat and remote villages in region. These initiatives aim to raise awareness about available healthcare services and provide free medical care to those in need.

“Individuals over the age of 40 should prioritize their health by undergoing regular screenings for diabetes and heart diseases. Annual comprehensive body checkups, including a 2D echo, are essential. Early detection through these screenings can significantly aid in identifying progressive conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular issues, enabling timely intervention and better management of health.”— Dr. Paresh G. Patel, (M.D. Physician).

“Our mission is to ensure that no individual refrains from seeking medical care due to financial constraints,” said Nikhil Patel.

“We aim to prevent any severe incidents from affecting their lives. This mission drives our founders and our dedicated team to provide continuous support and care,” he added.

A Dedicated Medical Team and Robust Partnerships

Himaya Multispeciality Hospital boasts a team of over 45 medical professionals available around the clock. The hospital also partners with several insurance companies to provide cashless treatment options.

Among the insurance and TPA (Third Party Administrator) partners are: PMJAY (Amritam Ayushman Yojana)

    – SBI General Insurance Co. Ltd.- Paramount TPA

    – Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd.- Medi-Assist General Health Insurance (TPA)

    – FHPL TPA- Ericson TPA

    – Future General Insurance- Magma HDI

    – HDFC General Insurance Ltd.

These partnerships facilitate a seamless and hassle-free experience for patients seeking treatment under various insurance plans.

    Looking Ahead

The story of Himaya Multispeciality Hospital is one of resilience, community spirit, and a relentless commitment to serving the people.

“Our journey has just begun. We are continually looking for ways to improve and expand our services to meet the needs of our community. We believe that healthcare is a fundamental right, and we are committed to ensuring that every individual has access to the medical care they need,”said Nikhil Patel.

As the hospital continues to serve the people of Surat and Gujarat, it stands as a testament to the power of unity, dedication, and the unwavering spirit of the Gujarati people.
