August initiatives across Delhi, Puducherry and Gurugram combine environmental awareness, e-waste education, collection-linked action and experiential learning

New Delhi [India], September 16: Clean to Green Society™ (C2G) strengthened its environmental education and outreach efforts during August 2026 through a series of initiatives engaging students across schools and higher educational institutions in Delhi, Puducherry and Gurugram. From creative engagement and awareness sessions to an e-waste collection drive and an educational visit to a live waste-management facility, the programmes were designed to help young people understand environmental responsibility and translate learning into practical action. The initiatives addressed key themes including e-waste management, waste segregation, recycling, responsible disposal, resource conservation and circular-economy practices, while encouraging students to recognise the role that everyday choices can play in building a cleaner and more sustainable future.

As part of the outreach, a Drawing Competition was organised at DAV Public School, Sector 7, Rohini, Delhi, on August 13, around the occasion of Independence Day. Students were encouraged to creatively connect the idea of national responsibility with environmental protection, responsible waste management and the vision of a cleaner and greener India. The activity offered students an opportunity to express their understanding of sustainability through art while reinforcing the message that environmental responsibility is an important part of responsible citizenship.

A Training and Awareness Session was conducted at Societe Progressiste Government Aided High School in Puducherry on August 12. The session introduced students to e-waste management, waste segregation, recycling and responsible disposal practices, with an emphasis on how students can contribute to environmental protection through sustainable everyday behaviour.

In Delhi, another Training and Awareness Session was organised at Government Co-ed Secondary School, Block 2, Geeta Colony, on August 13. Students were sensitised to the importance of e-waste management, segregation, recycling and responsible disposal, and were encouraged to carry these practices beyond the classroom into their homes and communities. The programme sought to inspire young participants to become sustainability ambassadors who can influence responsible behaviour among those around them.

Taking the engagement a step further from awareness to action, Clean to Green conducted a Training and Awareness Session along with an E-Waste Collection Drive at ICFAI Business School (IBS), Gurugram, on August 11. Students were engaged on responsible e-waste management, segregation, recycling, circular-economy practices and the safe disposal of end-of-life electronic products.

The collection component enabled participants to connect what they learned during the awareness programme with an immediate, practical sustainability action. Engagement with students at a business school also provided an opportunity to introduce future professionals and decision-makers to concepts of resource efficiency, responsible consumption and circularity that are becoming increasingly relevant to businesses and institutions.

A major highlight of the month’s outreach was an educational exposure visit by 55 students of Salwan Girls Senior Secondary School, Rajender Nagar, Delhi, to the RLG Mandoli Aggregation Centre on August 19 under the Clean to Green initiative.

Designed as an experiential learning programme, the visit connected classroom concepts with the functioning of a live waste-management facility. Students received practical exposure to different stages of waste management, including segregation, sorting, handling, storage and aggregation, while also learning about responsible recycling and the onward journey of collected waste.

The programme was conceived around the learning approach “See it. Understand it. Practice it.”, enabling students to observe operational processes instead of learning about sustainability only through textbooks. The educational focus included e-waste and battery waste management, responsible consumption and disposal, resource conservation and circular-economy thinking.

The visit was also aligned with the emphasis of the National Education Policy 2020 on hands-on, experiential and competency-based learning, providing students an opportunity to understand how environmental concepts translate into real-world systems and processes.

“Environmental awareness becomes meaningful when it leads to responsible choices and action. Through these engagements, our effort is to help young people understand why sustainability matters and how waste segregation, responsible disposal, recycling and resource conservation work in practice. Schools and educational institutions have an important role in shaping habits early, and when students carry these learnings into their homes and communities, the impact extends beyond the classroom. At Clean to Green Society, we want to create opportunities that enable young people to see, understand and participate in building a more responsible and circular future,” said Ms. Radhika Kalia, President, Clean to Green Society.
